Choosing the Right Commercial Glasswasher
Capacity is the primary consideration. Most undercounter glasswashers process 400–1,000 glasses per hour across cycles of 90–180 seconds. High-volume venues such as nightclubs and sports bars typically require models handling 800+ glasses per hour.
Basket size determines throughput in practice — standard 400mm baskets accommodate 16–25 pint glasses or 20–36 wine glasses per cycle. Compact 350mm models suit smaller bars with limited counter space. Double-skinned construction reduces noise levels, which is essential for front-of-house installations.
Installation & Running Costs: Commercial glasswashers require a dedicated cold water supply (minimum 2 bar pressure) and drainage. Integral water softeners extend equipment lifespan in hard water areas. Energy-efficient models typically consume 2–3 kWh per hour during operation.
Maintenance schedules should include daily cleaning of spray arms and filters, weekly descaling in hard water areas, and quarterly professional servicing. Proper maintenance extends equipment lifespan well beyond the typical 5–7 year expectancy.
