The new Blizzard CHDR Multi Temp Chef Drawers bring chilled and frozen storage right to the point of cooking, keeping frequently used ingredients organised, accessible and exactly where a busy cookline needs them.

You’ll usually hear this style of unit called a chef drawer or a chef base — refrigeration that sits right next to the cooking, so nobody’s dashing off to an upright fridge or freezer mid-service. What Blizzard’s added here is proper Multi Temp flexibility, all in one unit.

Chilled Today, Frozen Tomorrow

Both new 900mm models can run as either a fridge or a freezer — chilled from 0°C to +8°C, or frozen from -22°C to -18°C.

In other words, the storage adapts to the kitchen, rather than the other way round.

The Blizzard CHDR9-1 keeps things simple: one soft-close drawer, room for 2 x GN1/1 containers, set to whichever temperature the day’s menu calls for.

The Blizzard CHDR9-2 is where it really gets clever.

Chilled, Frozen, or Both

The CHDR9-2 has two independently controlled drawers, each holding 2 x GN1/1 containers.

Want both drawers chilled? Set them that way. Need both frozen instead? Just as easy. Or run one of each, so fresh ingredients sit in one drawer and frozen stock sits in the other — 4 x GN1/1 capacity across the unit, with each drawer keeping to its own temperature.

Built to Live Next to the Heat

Both models are AISI 304 stainless steel inside and out, with soft-close drawers, digital temperature control and heavy-duty castors for shifting them around, cleaning underneath and general upkeep.

They’re built to sit right alongside grills, griddles and fryers — which is rather the point, given how much time a chef can lose walking away from the pass to fetch something cold.

Why Bother With a Chef Drawer at All?

In a busy kitchen, time is of the essence.

Chef drawers keep the ingredients you reach for constantly right where the cooking’s happening, that matters most on cooklines where speed, space and a bit of organisation make all the difference.

And because the CHDR range runs Multi Temp, a single unit isn’t locked into one job for life. Menus change, seasons change, storage needs change — the drawers can simply be reset to match.

Bigger Models on the Way

Need more room than the 900mm versions offer? Larger 1.2 metre single and double drawer models are joining the range shortly, giving kitchens more say over size and drawer configuration.
