Choosing the Perfect Deli Display Case
Choosing the Perfect Deli Display Case for Your Setup.
Walk into any farm shop, deli, café, or food hall and there it is — the serve-over counter, piled with cured meats, artisan cheeses, prepared salads, and whatever’s good that week. It’s the first thing customers see. In many cases, it’s what makes them stop.
Getting that counter right matters more than most people realise. The right unit makes product look genuinely appetising, holds temperature reliably, and sells your product for you. The wrong one fogs up, runs inconsistent, and makes a good product range look mediocre.
One thing worth keeping in mind whatever unit you choose: your deli counter works two shifts. During opening hours it sells. After close, it stores your stock overnight. Temperature reliability matters just as much at 2am as it does during the lunchtime rush — so it’s always worth choosing a unit you can trust around the clock.
Here’s our take on which counter suits which setup.
Just Starting Out or Short on Space? Blizzard Zeta Slimline
Space is money in a food business, and not every setup can accommodate a full-width counter. The Blizzard Zeta slimline range is built for exactly this — a compact footprint that fits where other counters won’t, without looking like a compromise. It delivers a clean, professional display and solid refrigeration from day one. A smart, practical choice for anyone starting out or working with a tight floor plan.
Farm Shop, Butchery, or Traditional Deli? Mafirol Amalia Curved Glass
Some counters just look the part. The Mafirol Amalia has a sweeping curved glass front that makes product look abundant and inviting. It’s the right fit for a farm shop, butchery, or traditional deli where the counter is a centrepiece, not just a piece of kit — and where customers expect to linger and look.
We currently have a graded Mafirol Amalia available at £1,599 + VAT. The manufacturer inspected and reconditioned it before sale, and it carries a 1 year parts warranty. Mafirol builds counters that last — at this price, it’s hard to argue with.
Busy Café or High-Volume Deli? Tefcold Tavira or Coreco
High footfall means constant opening and closing, and a counter that struggles to recover temperature during service will let you down — during the day and overnight. Both the Tefcold Tavira and Coreco ranges handle this well. They maintain even temperature throughout the cabinet, recover quickly between customers, and hold stock reliably after close.
The Coreco is the one to look at for larger operations — available in flat or curved glass and up to 2525mm wide, it suits a serious counter with serious volume. The Tavira punches above its weight where space is tighter but the pace is still relentless.
Quality on a Budget? Consider a Graded Unit
A graded unit isn’t a lesser unit — it’s a professionally inspected and manufacturer-reconditioned cabinet offered at a significant discount on the new price. For a counter that spends most of its working life standing still and keeping things cold, it’s a very sensible buy.
We have two available right now: the Mafirol Amalia curved glass counter mentioned above, and a Blizzard Zeta 1m flat glass serve-over. Both carry a 1 year parts warranty and are ready to go.
Not Sure Which to Choose?
Every setup is different. Floor space, product range, service style, and budget all play a part — and sometimes it helps to talk it through with someone who knows the kit.
