Choosing the Right Passthrough Dishwasher

The key decision is throughput: entry-level passthrough dishwashers handle 60–80 racks per hour, while premium models from Classeq and Sammic reach 120 racks per hour — equivalent to up to 1,440 plates. Match capacity to your peak service volume rather than average throughput.

Break tank: mandatory for Category 5 establishments — schools, care homes, hospitals and nurseries. UK Water Board Regulations require a WRAS-approved Type A air gap break tank wherever there is a risk of water supply contamination. All our break tank models meet WRAS standards.

Water softener: hard water areas cause limescale build-up that shortens machine life and increases running costs. An integral water softener pays for itself within the first year in most UK regions. Check your local water hardness before ordering.

Drain pump: required when the waste outlet sits higher than the machine drain port — common in basement kitchens or when connecting to existing pipework. DC models are available with a drain pump as standard on most configurations.
